Agency Internships

Step out of the classroom and secure your professional future. In this industry, the opportunity to "try on" a career to ensure that it fits your personal and professional goals is a rarity. Luckily for you, COUNTRY® Financial offers the opportunity to do just that.

What does the internship entail?

Our twelve-month agency internship program is a comprehensive experience in the insurance and investments industry. As a COUNTRY Agency Intern, you work directly with two or three COUNTRY Financial Representatives to learn how to identify the insurance and financial needs of clients and offer solutions to address those needs.

Note: to apply for the agency internship program, go to our Contact A Recruiter form to submit your resume. Please indicate that you are interested in the internship position when you submit the form. If interested in corporate internships, visit our Corporate Internships page.

What are the responsibilities of the intern?

Our interns do a wide range of tasks in and out of the office, but here are a few standard requirements. Interns:

  • Obtain state Property/Casualty and Life/Health and Series 6 & 63 securities licenses
  • Observe client appointments
  • Handle client questions and requests
  • Plan and implement marketing efforts
  • Attend networking activities
  • Gain a solid understanding of business ownership

Here are some other facts you should know:

  • The internship is a year-long commitment, May through May
  • Interns are paid hourly, $12/hour
  • Continued service during school breaks is required (with some flexibility)
  • Continued service is contingent upon fulfilling license requirements within a specific time frame

Am I qualified to apply?

Here’s a brief outline of an ideal intern candidate:

  • Students earning a BS or BA degree from a four-year institution (graduate students also considered)
  • Marketing or sales experience through schooling, job, and/or personal experience
  • Strong desire to someday run a business and/or build a career in sales
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency

How do I know if this is the career path I want to take?

This sounds like a great opportunity, right? It is! But before you apply, it is important that you ask yourself this question:

When I graduate from college, do I want to sell insurance and financial services solutions for a living?

Consider this carefully and be honest with yourself. An internship gives you the opportunity to gain professional experience for the real world and it gives you the option to experience a career to make sure it’s what you want to do upon graduation, and this program is no exception.

With that said, only interested students who truly desire to someday run their own business need apply. If you aren’t sure, we encourage you to investigate this career path a little more before applying.  Research the industry and talk with family, friends and fellow classmates about it to get a feel for your “natural market.” Once you’ve done that, ask yourself the question again.

I know that I want to run my own business someday. How do I apply?
